Recognizing Retired Chiefs

BECOME A MEMBER

Joining the GOAT LOCKER HALL OF FAME Association means becoming part of a distinguished community of retired U.S. Navy Chiefs committed to leadership, mentorship, and service. Our members are the cornerstone of the association and ensure the traditions of the Chief’s Mess endure for future generations.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer (CPO, SCPO, or MCPO) – Must have honorably retired from the U.S. Navy in good standing with the rank of E-7 through E-9.
  • Minimum 20 Years of Naval Service – Exceptions may be considered in extraordinary cases of valor, heroism, or notable contributions to the Chief Petty Officer Mess.
  • Demonstrated Leadership and Legacy – Must have a track record of mentoring, leading, and preserving the core values of the Chief Petty Officer Mess throughout their career.
  • Sustained Post-Retirement Involvement – Continues to serve the community, veterans, or the Navy in a way that reflects honor, service, and tradition.

Nomination Process

  • Candidates must be nominated by a fellow Chief Petty Officer (active or retired).
  • A detailed bio or resume
  • Statement of impact (1–2 pages outlining contributions to the Chief Petty Officer Mess, Navy, and post-retirement service)
  • At least two letters of support from Chief Petty Officers or Senior Leaders
  • Optional: photos, awards, or testimonials

Membership Categories

  • Inducted Member – Full honoree status; receives plaque/certificate; may attend GLHOF ceremonies and events
  • Honorary Member – For individuals (including officers or civilians) who have made exceptional contributions to the Chief Petty Officer community
  • Lifetime Member – For continued supporters or past inductees who give recurring contributions to the mission

Code of Conduct

  • Uphold Navy Core Values: Honor, Courage, Commitment
  • Refrain from conduct that discredits the GLHOF or Chief Petty Officer Mess
  • Serve as ambassadors for the organization and the Chief Petty Officer legacy

Annual Induction Limit

  • To maintain prestige and honor: Maximum 20-30 inductees per year (Subject to change based on Board decision and quality of nominations). “Should there be a limit?”
